Trade-offs
Strengths and limitations
Published together so the trade-offs are visible before you decide.
Strengths
- A physical shutter on the lens: The recorded privacy shutter is yes, a physical shutter on the lens, and a physical privacy shutter appears in the recorded feature list. It is a mechanical barrier over the lens rather than a setting inside an application.
- Autofocus with a glass lens: The recorded focus is autofocus with a glass lens, and the recorded resolution is 1080p at 30 fps, 720p at 30 fps. The Elgato Facecam records a fixed focus prime lens instead, so the focusing mechanism is a recorded difference and not a preference.
- A stereo microphone and a clip for laptops and monitors: The recorded built-in microphone is yes, stereo, with a range up to 1 m, and a built-in microphone appears in the recorded feature list. The recorded mounting is a universal mounting clip that fits laptops and monitors, and a tripod is not included.
Limitations
- 30 fps at every recorded resolution: The recorded resolution is 1080p at 30 fps and 720p at 30 fps, so the frame rate does not rise with the resolution. The Logitech Brio 4K records 1080p at 60 fps and the Elgato Facecam records 1080p at 60 fps.
- One fixed field of view and no infrared support recorded: The recorded field of view angle is a single 78 degrees diagonal, where the Brio 4K records 90, 78 or 65 degrees as three presets. No infrared support is recorded for this camera, so platform sign-in is not documented for it here.
