Standards

Editorial policy

The rules Aback Reviews applies to every published page, including what we refuse to publish.

Last reviewed: 2026-09-01

This policy describes the standards a page must meet before it is published on Aback Reviews.

What we publish

  • Structured product data. Specifications, sources and timestamps, stored independently of prose.
  • Reviews. Assessment of a product for a stated use case, with strengths and limitations.
  • Comparisons. What differs between products, why it matters, and who should choose which.
  • Best-of guides. Shortlists with explicit, published selection criteria and a stated reason for each inclusion.
  • Buying guides. How to evaluate a category before choosing a product.
  • Alternatives. Products a buyer might reasonably consider instead, with the overlap explained.
  • Answers. Specific purchase questions answered from recorded sources.

What we refuse to publish

  • Fabricated testing, measurements, benchmarks or hands-on experience.
  • Fabricated ratings, review counts, or customer reviews.
  • Fabricated prices or availability.
  • Fabricated sources or author credentials.
  • Superlatives that the recorded evidence does not support.
  • Rankings that are not backed by stated criteria.
  • Pages created only because a keyword exists.
  • Near-duplicate pages that cannibalize an existing page's intent.
  • Urgency or scarcity that we cannot verify.

Recommendations and ranking

A recommendation must answer three questions: who is this for, why does it suit them, and what do you give up by choosing it. If a page ranks products, the ranking method is published on that page.

Affiliate commission is not a ranking input. A product is never included, ordered, or described more favorably because of its payout.

Language standards

We prefer specific, checkable statements such as "supports Bluetooth and wired connections" over promotional language such as "revolutionary". Claims about being the best are always scoped to a use case, a budget, or a constraint.

Limitations

Every product page and review has room for limitations, and using it is expected. A page that lists only advantages has failed review.

Corrections

Factual errors are a product quality problem. Anyone can report an error from the contact page, and corrections are recorded with what was wrong, what it was changed to, and when. Pages with meaningful updates show a last reviewed date; we do not update timestamps to make old content look new.

AI assistance

AI may help organize research, draft metadata, normalize units, suggest internal links, and identify missing information. AI output is treated as unverified until it is checked against a source. AI never invents specifications, prices, testing results, or user experiences, and never publishes a page on its own.
